Design: Baker stoves are designed to produce more heat with less fuel. We have taken the concept of efficiency to its logical conclusion...TOTAL HEAT EXTRACTION. By re-inventing the coal burning stove, Baker has created a system that provides both circulatory and radiant heat. An air-tight firebox ensures a near total combustion while a unique patented baffle system retains the fire's full heating potential. All Baker stoves are equipped with this system.
A cut-away view of the baffle system (see picture to right) demonstrates how cold air is picked up by the fan from floor level and forced up through the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is located in the hottest part of the stove - the combustion chamber. The heat continues through air tubes to the front of the stove where it is blown into the living area, rather than up the chimney. Baker's unique combination of circulatory plus radiant heat means efficiency.
Quality Materials: We pride ourselves in using the best materials available. While some companies cut costs by using thinner steel, our stoves are crafted primarily out of 5/16" and 1/4" steel. In addition, the doors, grates, draft controls and shaker handle are all heavy duty cast iron. This is evident as you compare the total weight of our stoves with that of other companies. Our stoves range from 447 lbs. to 694 lbs. (please see our stove model comparison chart for more details), unlike many others that are in the 200 lb. to 300 lb. range.
